If your getting a puppy for the same price you get a rescue there might be a slight chance you will end up paying more later. And I think it would be a great idea to give them to elderly but the main concern it's for the puppy's health and care. Elderly might not be able to afford vets bill or other expenses. A rescue dog deserves as much love as any other. Also rescues shelters need to profit from somewhere to help as many pets as possible.
