I took Missy to the groomers on Saturday. By Saturday night she had red blothces on her tummy, her neck, her private area looked irritated and her ears were red with little bumps on it. As soon as I noticed I took her to the emergency hospital. The vet said it was an allergic reaction, most likely to the shampoo they used at the groomers. They gave her an injection of benadryl and perscribed children's benadryl. I had to take her back the next day because she was still so itchy and miserable. She scratched her belly so much she made it bleed.
And she keeps rubbing her ears on the carpet. They gave her a shot of anti-inflamitory and told me to keep giving her the benadryl. Her belly, neck and private area seem better, but not her ears. The vet said it was definetly not an ear infection, just the allergic reaction.
Has this ever happened to you? Do you have any suggestions on what may help sooth her itching??
I called the groomer and they used Groomers Edge shampoo and The Stuff spray.
I usually use Earthbath puppy shampoo and detangling spray and have not had any issues.
Please help! I hate seeing Missy so miserable. She didn't even want to eat.
