Good questions. While there is a possibility of a pup aquiring life threatening genetic defects (their parents and/or the line they came from could very well have been tested free, how every there is no genetic marker that proves them not to be carriers). So, this is where your instinct has to come into play, and a good contract.

Good reputable breeders very rarely ship their puppies, and very rarely will place a puppy with you unless the meet you face to face. There are those breeders that will ship in cabin (we do have contact with people that do this for us) at your expense.
