I also have an independent one. Rocco's snuggly for a few minutes when he's tired or first wakes up. Other than that, he is content to carry on like a "big" dog and lay on the floor, sleep in his crate, and keep himself busy. He loves us to pieces, but when he sits on your lap it's only for a minute to chew a toy or drop one off for you to throw! But I am happy that he's content and not clingy, and he also hardly ever barks. And I DO get plenty of wet puppy kisses
