star28c, i would have your friend call the breeder (if that's what she really is) and tell her that she was making arrangements to come and pick up the puppy and also that she wanted to see the parents at that time. they will probably be nice, but she may still be met with some resistance (and since it is just a test, you want to know what she'll say)....
but with or without a phone call, there are too many MAJOR red flags on why these people do not seem like reputable breeders ... i wouldn't buy a puppy from there, no matter how cute ... your friend could very well be paying a lower price for a puppy on the front end, but buying into a lifetime of extremely expensive health care for it....
