I suppose this wouldn't be a huge deal, but I live in an apartment and my lease is up next month. I'm a little mad at him honestly, but how do I get him to deal with being alone for a little while? He whines, cries and tears things apart
Can I ask a question - if you're gone and he has free roam of your room - why do you feel he he should be in the closet while you're home ?

Would it not be easier to let him free when you're there ? He is probably very bored and anxious if not used to being in a tight enclosure - even though it is a walk in....
Some dogs will rebel if they're taken from freedom to a crate or enclosed area and chewing and destroying stuff is just a way for them to pass time....just a thought !!!

ps - don't be mad at him - he's just doing what dogs do
