I am with those that are no longer comfortable with posting a question here and normally find another place to go for that. A couple of months ago, my Libby suddenly became very ill. I took her to another vet because my vet was out of town. She was treated and sent home. By 11:00 that night, I thought she was dying. Her diarrhea became straight blood and she could hardly hold her head up. I couldn't get the vet to meet me at the clinic. Years ago, I would have come here for advice, but found another place that was very supportive. If I'd put a thread here, I probably would have been chastised for not getting in the car and driving 8 or more hours through a major blizzard and closed highways to get her to an ER clinic. PTL Libby survived with the help of a vet in Africa and another in Washington, and some very supportive friends.
I still love this place and will continue to come back, but my blood boils every time I see a thread where someone has asked an innocent question that turns into an ugly free for all. I realize it's the internet, and people have opinions, but give your opinion in a nice way and if they don't take your advice, take a chill pill and walk away. |
By the number of people who say they are afraid to post, and considering the number of unknown, people who have dropped in an left due to the bashings, I would say it is a HUGE problem.
By all the bashing, they are prevented from doing the exact thing that they claim to be doing it for. the welfare of the dog.
if people are frightened off they are not learning.
Why not just answer the persons question, and if you feel they need to be told not to breed then say it snd explain why and move on. if they are going to take myour advice, they will, and if not, then they won't, but you may have helped someone along the way.
By attacking the person and turning the thread into a bashing, no one has learned anythng except not to ask questions. By the time one is finished reading those threads, they don't even remember what the original question was.
You cannot belittle a person and turn around and say it is for the good of the dog, or the good of the breed, because you haven't accomplished that.
Those are just excuses that you are giving to try to justify the bashing.
Two WRONGS do not make a RIGHT.
