I have actually sat in the Vet's office and heard first hand people bring in a relative or friends dog to be put down because the owner passed away and there were no other plans for this pet set in place.

Please make sure you consider the "age-factor" into this placement.
I would never turn someone down for their age. I placed a dog with an 85 year old woman once and she has more energy then me! Very active woman in great health. But has a home set up if something were to happen to her.

My adoption agreement states there must be a plan in place, and that I will take the dog back no matter what.

Some folks retire earlier then others and as far as I know they are in their late 50's. Even if in 60's that is still young to me.

Unfortunately nobody can predict how long they will live. I could go tomorrow and then what? Ya i have a husband but he wouldn't know what to do. This is something of course we all should prepare for...ugh..
thanks..
