Sorry you're having so many problems, but nice to hear your story. Many people justify the "need" for a smaller dog because they have bad backs. I've wondered about that for the very reasons you've listed.

Mignon is still very young and man surprise you yet, adding a few more pounds before he reaches full adulthood. My two put on a few pounds more even after 14 months, just "filling out" their adult frames.

Do yourself a favor and get pet stairs: they learn rapidly and it can be a godsend for those who can't bend over. If you've read this forum for very long, there are always pros and cons for every single thing you ask. In the end, you have to make the choice that best fits YOUR needs.

Give the pups a skritch, and stay healthy.
