as a fairly new member of YT, i hae never in my life (ironically) seen such catty-ness (however that is spelled, or if it's a word).

i have been participating in online discussions for over 10 years, and this is one of the most judgemental forums i've ever experienced. at first i thought it was just me and i'd hit a nerve, but after looking around -it seems as if most "newbies" feel the same.

god FORBID someone use the word "teacup" or ask a question about breeding. it seems as if there is some elite group here, or so "they" think.

yes, i realize "teacup" isn't recognized by the AKC - save it.

the point is - people who come here, come here for a reason. they come here because they love yorkies. it's a major turn off when they immediately get corrected in a smart aleck tone - whatever the question/comment may be.

all breeders (aka the elite/judgemental group) started out somewhere - unless you were just born knowing everything! did you magically appear in the ring? did the yorkie god knight you?

furthermore, who are you to judge? when someone comes on here asking a question about breeding - who are YOU to judge? did every breeder not start at the bottom? did every breeder not have to make that first purchase?

realistically, anyone who breeds had to buy A (as in ONE) dog to begin with, correct? from there, they had to buy another (of the opposite sex) in order to breed - right? did you know at that point everything there is to know? oh, of course you did, because you had attended shows and had a mentor. a mentor who was not a BYB - deemed by none other than YOURSELF.

BACKYARD breeder - that's the word of the day here! if someone has a question then they must be a backyard breeder or just trying to make a profit!

by the way, what is a backyard breeder vs. an ethical breeder? oh, wait, i know - an ethical breeder does it to improve the breed and the backyard breeder does it for money. HELLO! all pups are sold for money! this is the internet - anyone can come on here and say, "i show my dogs. they are champions. i do it to preserve the blood lines." so, a backyard breeder is someone who has a kennel outside and a ethical breeder has pups in a playpen in their bedroom? oh, no, it's not location, but intent - right? i've seen pictures of pups from "the best/most knowledgable breeders" in their living quarters aka playpens/crates - whatever. i've seen people who have had "accidental pups" (aka backyard breeders) with living conditions that look exactly the same!!!

whether you are a BYB or an ethical breeder is a matter of opinion - self opinion!

i could've easily come on here pretending to be whoever i wanted to be - as could anyone else. people ask questions because they want answers, not criticism. what are you missing in your life that the only thng that makes you happy is to be hateful to everyone else? seriously, that is the vibe us "newbies" get.
