You're probably in bed by now, but just to let you know, I've read meds can actually make them hyper. They made my boy crazy. He is a calm quiet thing, but for a few days after his neuter he was just crazy and out of control. He whined, cried, yelped, howled and barked for a few days. I didn't sleep and neither did he. He was just so uncomfortable. Wait it out, it won't be like that forever and he'll be your sweet baby again in a few days.
