I have it divided into 3 areas. A sleeping area, a play area and a potty area. They learn at a very early age, 3 to 4 weeks to leave the sleeping area and go to the pee pad to potty. I have a similar setup.
I actually start the potty training as soon as they open their eyes. I put some brown wrapping paper in one side of the bed. It's amazing to see they crawl to go pee on the paper at 2 weeks.
