It could be her genes, or the food you are feeding her, or what you are using on her coat to clean her with (shampoos). What are you using??
Yorkies have a much diffferent coat than most other dogs and you have to be very careful what you shampoo it with. There are some products some use on here for their yorkies, you could try. Yorkies do not have the undercoat, so they need a different type of shampoos and nothing too harsh - get rid of the flea types of shampoos, if you are using them. When I first got into yorkies many moons ago and took my pet to the groomers - her coat was so harsh and dry form what they were using. Yorkies are so much different and those normal shampoos groomers normally use on most dogs does not do well on yorkies.
Also you need to be feeding a good diet - good food can also make a world of difference. I had been using one food for awhile and decided to change it up and tried another, worse thing I could have done. It did change the feel of their coats and shine was not as good as before. So I tried another better - higher grade - dog food, and the coats all returned back to a really nice shine and feel again. You just cannot subbstitute those higher grades of dog food for the lesser type. JMO
