it's funny to read all the responses on picking up the puppy without permission. Before I even read the responses, my answer was a resounding, NO. Puppies especially are unpredictable when your holding them. Even the most experienced handler can fumble occasionally. My puppies are like my kids. I wouldn't let strangers pick up my child either. If the approach isn't right, it can cause the dog to be forever skiddish. I have one that was effected by a small child grabbing him from behind. He now doesn't tolerate children @ all.
