You are correct it is the company's responsibility to make sure the goods arrive I had it happen to me with a cell phone. I called and they sent me another one, funny thing is post man left it in an empty apt and it was found months later.
I think she should send you another one and if the other one appears be honest and send it back to her. Hope you have a good outcome.
