With tarter it would always be more than one thing, they could have a genetic propensity to produce tartar, overcrowded teeth would make the problem worse, and then of course environmental factors such as dental hygiene and health/pregnancy could affect all that. It just seems like a lot of tinies have lost teeth before the age of 2 and that makes me wonder.
