I have the same issue with my baby girl. normally straight after a bath i dry them off with a towel to clean excess tears away and i try to keep the hair around the eyes short. you must just be really careful if doing it yourself. try and find blunt-nosed scissors that do not have that fierce point at the end to protect the eyes. Taylor is used to it now and sits super still. My Maltese lost her eye after a trip to the parlour because they bumped her in the eye.

the other thing i got for her is ear and eye wipes - they're like baby wipes but made specially for dogs. i clean out her eyes and ears daily with them. even a little warm water and a cottom wool pad will help wash the eye
