Thanks everyone! I wish I would have joined a few weeks ago. My poor little guy was actually attacked by a neighbor dog while we were out playing in the front yard. The dog a mastif mix who I had never even seen before came into the yard. As soon as Max saw him he went running over barking at him.(He thinks he is 10 feet tall and bullet proof), I went running behind to try to catch him because I had a bad feeling in my gut for some reason! By the time I got about half way to him that horrible dog had Max in his mouth shaking him. All I could do was scream and yell for my husband to help. By the time I got over there my big dogs had jumped in and attacked that dog and Max was crawling away crying. I called 911 right away and reported the attack and they sent out animal control. They were NO help at all! She said all they can do is go deem the dog viscious and tell them to keep it on a leash. I was furious! I said well there were a total of nine kids out here playing and it could have been any one of them! I rushed him to the vet and after running tests the doctor found that he had a punctured chest cavity and a collapsed lung as well as internal injuries to the liver. The vet said that he really needed surgery but max was not stable enough to do it and that I might consider having him put to sleep. He said if I didn't want to do that then I could try antibiotics and pain medication and hope he pulls through. Of course I said I wouls try the medications and take him home. The doctor didn't have much hope for him to pull through and there were several times that I was almost certain he was taking his last breaths. It was horrible. I took care of him day and night for 8 full days until he was able to walk with out being in severe pain and able to eat and drink without assistance. He has now almost made a full recovery. He is still a little tender on his right side but his bruising is fading away and he is back to running and playing. I can honestly say it is a miracle and that God definetly answered my prayers!! The worst part is I took the bill to the home of the owners of the other dog. The sister of the owner answered the door and I told her what had happened and even showed her the damage that he had done to my boy. I left all my information with her and was told the owner would call me and be more than happy to pay for the damages. I have yet to hear a word from them at all. Not even an apology. Regardless though I am just thrilled that I have my little man back and hopefully he wont have any long term affects. We will find out in a week or so when he goes back for a re-check.
