It may work depending on how bad the tartar is... if there are just few dark spots of tartar it may get them off, however, if the gums are already looking like they are affected and there is a lot of tartar it wont reverse that. I would use it every day for 30 days (thats the instructions on the bottle I believe) and if you still have not seen an improvement then consider a cleaning or at least have a vet examine the dogs teeth.
The petzlife really works amazing as a preventative measure... I have been using it since my kiddos got their big kid teeth.
