I'd stay with it. Don't like it, but it looks like it's your only option.
One thing permethrin can do is make dogs feel like something is crawling on them. If he isn't irritated after application, obv.. that isn't a problem. Since he is doing well on it, I'd try not to worry (haha). I just prefer to recommend other products before this one.
