  If you're talking pre-op bloodwork, the liver enzymes may be high, but not always. Further testing, a Bile Acid Test, is required to determine the actual liver function. Major indicators of LS are small stature, failure to grow as expected, difficulty with weight (always looks skinny), thin coat, possible mental problems and possibly seizures within 1/2 hour of eating, and difficulty recovering from anesthesia, as liver cannot rid the body of the drug. These are some of the symptoms, and an LS dog may display none or a few to many of these symptoms.
