I got my new puppy when she was 12 wks old. According to the medical record of her vaccinations/dewormings from the breeder the following is what she had received:

At approx 7 weeks of age - Duramune Max 5
At approx. 9 weeks of age - Duramune Max 5
At approx. 11 weeks of age - Duramune Max 5

At approx 5 weeks of age - Deworming Pyran
At approx 9 weeks of age - Deworming Pyran
At approx. 11 weeks of age - Deworming Pyran

I took her to the local Vet for a wellness examination and to make sure she was up to date on her vacs/dewormings and to put her on any schedule she needed for future vacs/dewormings. While at the local Vet for her first visit they did a basic physical examination and administred a shot for Distemper Vaccine and Bordetella via intranasal. In addition, I got her heartworm medicine and flea/tick Frontline medication.

I called the local Vet to find out when she was due back in next because they didn't go over the schedule with me (which I find strange) and they said she was due for another Distemper shot and her Rabies shot on April 12th. Thank god I called because I don't think they would have called me! I'm looking into another local vet needless to say and have found a great one.

I'm a little confused though at this point. Doesn't the Duramune Max 5 cover distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus and respitory disease caused by adenovirus type 2??? If she received 3 doses/shots of the Duramune Max 5 from her breeder shouldn't she be all set with her distemper, hepatitis, parainfluenza, parvovirus shots? Also, I'm not sure why her breeder basically gave the Duramune Max 5 shots 2 weeks apart. That seems to quickly in between shots to me, anybody else?

At any rate, I gave the vet hospital (were my girl had surgery for her fractured tibia/fibula) the medical information supplied by the breeder (they asked for it) and they told me they were going to fax it over to my local vet for her 1st appt, which was the day after her surgery. I didn't have a copy just the original, so I entrusted that the vet hospital would send a copy to my local vet. I spoke to the techs at the local vet clinic the day of my puppies visit and they said they received all the records from the vet hosptial where my girl had her surgery. However, when I called the major vet hospital today to see if they had the original medical history for my girl from the breeder they said they didn't have it! I called because I was inquiring if she could get her shots at the hospital the day she went in to get her pins removed (this Friday) to get everything done all at once. The tech at the vet hosptial said it could be sitting in a pile of paperwork to be scanned! So at this point, I'm thinking that my local vet never received the medical record from the breeder and just the information on my girls surgery!!

I guess I'm just really confused now because I'm scared my girl received an extra Distemper shot she didn't need and they have her scheduled for another one not realizing she received 3 doses of Duramune Max 5. Maybe I'm wrong and the Duramune Max 5 doesn't cover what I think it covers.

If anybody has any insight to this that would be great! Thanks.
