It's funny because it was exactly the same with Joey. I told my husband "It's hopeless. I'm a failure at potty training. We're going to have to live with newspaper for the rest of his life". A couple of days later, it was like a lightbulb went off for him and he's had very few accidents since.

One thing you might consider, Kathy, is a way for her to tell you that she needs to go. I've used a bell hanging on the back door knob with several dogs now and it's worked extremely well. Others teach their dogs to bark at the back door or scratch at it. {Of course, if she continues with the nose bonk thing, you won't need anything else! LOL!}
