Well, I don't feel so bad. Bailey is 5 mos. old and I have had him 4 weeks.
A trainer once told me with another dog not to use papers in the house as they confuse the dog. Don't know if this is true. The other dog was eventually totally house broken, all I recall is it went on for a very long time. She was a toy as well.
So here I am, repeating it again. I am just taking him out a lot. Every couple of hours. My son is home so he can help. I was out at 12 midnight.
From almost day one, he does nbr. one outside. He smelled where the other dog went and we return to the same spots. His other business has been harder. It hard because you keep the dog in one confined room, and so he can't go to the door.
Initially I confined him in his xpen at night. In the morning I found he was pooping in his bed. I couldn't figure our what to do. So, I let him stay on my bed and voila, no more accidents.
I guess its just trial and error. I figure when he doesn't eat as much during the day, it will be easier. He is still a baby. I think he knows he is not supposed to do it in the house because he tries to hide in a corner. |
