I think it depends where you go. Pet stores usually have the highest prices and sickest dogs. I bougt my Yorkies for $700 a piece almost 1-1/2 years ago and because of their popularity the breeder is now selling them for considerably more. They are of pet quality, meaning they don't meet the strict show qualities. Most people cannot even tell the difference between a show and pet quality. I don't know where you reside in IL. but you might be able to find a cheaper breeder in Fort Wayne, Indiana or South Bend.
