The shelter I volunteer at spays them young too. When I fostered the 3 month old pom puppy mill puppy I had to get her spayed at 3 months. She did fine but I felt so bad as she was so young. I understand that the shelters do not want to adopt these puppies out unless S/N as no matter how hard you screen some people are going to breed them either by accident or on purpose and they can't hold on to these puppies until they are older, but I would never spay mine that early. Also yorkies are so small at that age.
