Tried everything. Need advice. Ok, so I posted a thread on here once before about my yorkie Rusty and my problems with crate training.I recently started working again so my mom has him during the day while I'm at work. He's turning 1 May 3rd and as much as I want to let him run around freely, I can't trust him. He chews on wires and over the weekend we stayed at my boyfriends house, he decided chewing a huge chunk out of our nightstand was a good idea. Whenever I put him in the crate he barks nonstop until you let him out and he comes out soaked. I bought a bottle to put on the side of the crate for water but it seems to only make the barking worse because now he has a way to make his throat feel better after barking. After trying to continuously crate train him, he learned how to open the door so I would come home to my bedroom TRASHED and him still barking. Alot of people said try an exercise pen so I went out and bought one. When I first set it up I even sat in it with him for a few minutes to show him it was ok but he freaks out even worse than being in the crate. I put him in it and walked out of the room to see how he would react and I honestly thought someone broke into the room within the 30 seconds and was killing him. Does anyone else have this problem? What did you do to solve it? And does anyone have any advice for me? My boyfriend wants to get a bark collar for him and as much as I disagree with him about it, it seems that its going to be my only option. Of course I'm saving it for a last resort type of thing. Did anyone use one of those collars for there yorkies? How did they handle it? I saw that they have spray collars that don't zap him but just spray him everytime he barks or they also have little boxes you put in the room with them that make loud noises to startle them but I've heard really bad reviews on them. What do you think? Please help.
