Use lattice. You can have them cut it in half so it's about two feet tall instead of four, and line the perimeter of your porch with it. I did this with my fenced in back yard because there was a hole. It's kind of cheap, like $20 a piece, but if you cut it in half you have twice as much. We got the plastic kind so it won't wear with the weather.
