We have 6 inch hand-scraped solid maple floors and cannot see any doggy scratches on them but the cat scratches are bad.
The cat loves to play chase and digs his nails in the floor going around the corners.
We also have them in the kitchen area so there are also many marks from dropped cans, cups, knives..... from the kids. After only 2 1/2 years they are pretty beat up. We would like to remove the hardwood in there and put in tile.
