Everyone handles their situation differently.
I for one would not take a chance in putting my yorkies in harms way. I've seen to many incidents of horrible accidents happen to yorkies with collars. Yes, my dogs they have dog license....and it is required by law for them to have them, but they are on their harness when we go out in public, not on a collar. My show dogs, well for obvious reasons, I have in an envelope in my grooming bag.....
Dog license is required by law, however, when one is intent on taking your yorkie....they'll just take that collar off. I have nothing on my dogs that identifies them by name....
