Molly also got very matted when she was about 4 mos old. I took her to the groomers and they ended up shaving her. The groomer told me that the mats pull on their skin and hurt them. Even though I was very upset to have Molly shaved it was for the best. I could tell that she felt so much better after being shaved. Her hair grew back quickly and I learned my lesson - I comb her daily and her hair stays beautiful!
