 Help...My Yorkie was hit head with a baseball
Has anyone had this happen to them? My Yorkie, Spike, is 9 months old, and my two children and I were playing catch, and my son who is 8 years old threw a wild ball and it hit Spike in the head. Spike collapsed, unconscious for a second and then came to, I scooped him up and took him inside and put ice on his head, when I put him down he was not really able to walk. A couple minutes later it was better but still not right. We took him into the emergency vet, and they said that neurologically he is intact, his pupils are reacting and normal. They gave him some pain meds, which is making him pant, and he is drooling--which is apparently a sign of being in pain. He is now at home resting--the drooling is better, he is walking again--but appears drunk--possibly from the pain meds. I have been searching the net for some info and everything I am reading is either really severe as in a car accident ending in death or not much help. Has anyone else had this happen? I am worried sick. |
