It takes a lot of time and patience and experience with mill dogs but in the right home they will turn around. It sounds like your friend may not have taken enough time with her to bring her around or may not have read up enough on how to work with a mill dog. I do believe if you devote the time and read and ask for advice here on YT from experienced rescue people you will be able to make a big difference in this little girl's life. She may always have a skittish streak and may or may not ever play with toys, but certainly will be a totally different dog then when you get her. It is very rewarding. My Noel, took four years to lose her fear of strangers and men especially but I can't tell you the difference from when we first got her till now. Night and day and as I said very very rewarding to know you made the difference and they repay you two fold.
