When they are at the dogpark playing they have the option to rest and get water when they need it. If they are running with you it's not as easy for them to stop and get what they need. I'd ask your vet for a good age, we started with Bandit at 1, and he can do a mile, but we don't go past that. We do however, walk a lot!!!
