OMG, OMG, OMG, those pictures -- once you get to the happy ending part -- are hilarious. Leave it to a freakin' Lab to get in a predicament like that!

I wish I had advice for you, but I've been in a similar boat before with Rusty. I was at a fenced ballpark with him one time for a meetup, and I left him in the gated area while I walked across the street to my car. Rusty threw a fit. There was a gate with a tiny opening underneath. Not even the Yorkies dared trying to sneak under it. But, sure enough, Rusty miraculously crawled under it and raced across the street to get to me. Some of the people I was with was sure he was going to break his back.

It's funny, though. When we first got him, he used to regularly escape our yard. I finally closed off the area he escaped with some cheap wire fencing nailed to a log at the bottom. He tried but eventually gave up. Now, a couple years later, the fencing has gotten worn out, and I have no doubt he could easily jump it. But he doesn't even try.

I'm so glad you thought to snap some pictures. I'm sure it was scary for a while.
