I worked in a shelter once my mother and I worked in the recovery room and the only surgery the clinic did was spay/neuter so when they came out we tened to the breathing tubes took there temps and washed the surgery sites. It was bad enough to hear the bays cry when they began coming to and had a tube shoved down there throats still. The puppys were the hardest they would cry and there was just no time to comfort them I thought that was bad. Then one day all the vet techs were busy and they asked me if I could hold a small black lab puppy while they put him under for the surgery I wanted to be a vet tech so I said SURE!! heck ya scooped the puppy up and held out his arm for the needle. That puppy SCREAMED and went limp in my arms. that was it I was done even though he was only sleeping there was NO WAY ide ever do that again I quit that day and I will NEVER EVER forget the sound of that cry and the instant the puppy went limp in my arms.
