Best thing one can do for pups with digestive issues is to get them taking probiotics with enzymes. This insures the proper levels of good bacteria to be available in the gut during meal time, and can ward off episodes of vomiting/diarrhea and can help digest any foods, even foods the pup may have had problems with in the past. Also helps to increase the appetite, and allows the nutrients to be more readily available for use in the gut. Especially helpful during and after taking a course of antibiotics as it helps re-establish the flora in the intestines, that gets killed off by most antibiotics. My get some everyday. My Liver shunt dog has put on some weight since I began supplementing with it about 2 months ago. Here's a link to the product I use (very inexpensive) that was recommended to me by Wiley's Mom:
