I used to work at a pet store that sold the invisible fences... People would just rant and rave how wonderulf they are. A lot of the people that bought them lived in subdivisions that wouldn't allow them to put up chain link fences, but they had to do something for their dogs!

A lady I work with just had one put in as well....
She has a standard Poodle and a Bichon. She says how wonderful it is. She can just let them out the door and not worry about them leaving the yard. They'll walk right up to the point where the wire is buried and stop. It only took them a couple days to figure out at what point they'd get zapped.
She told me one time the batteries in the collar died and the Bichon escaped (they found her again), so you might want to make an effort to check the collar batteries regularly.

But, like Patti said, it doesn't prevent other animals from getting into your yard...
