I would fence a small play area near the house..the problem with invisable fences is I have heard they are not for small dogs..work well with the large breeds.
I bought a shock mat that you put in front of a door way to keep dogs out of a room..never phased them, especailly the small ones, they walked right over it without a shock..the bigger ones would react a bit, but still walk on it to get to the room they wanted in..what is a little tingle on the toes if you want something bad enough..that is the way my Yorkies think!

Kimberly, please descibe a hot wire..?? Where is it?
