When I lived in St. Paul, MN. I bought fresh goat milk from a lady who raised goats and also grew organic food for them. I had my youngest son on this milk. It literally saved his life.
For my fur girls I give them some of the canned goat milk each time I open it to use on cereal or when I make clam chowder, oyster stew, alfredo sauce, white gravy and such. They love it!! |
I will put an ad in the paper, then if I can get some fresh goat milk I will freeze it, use it for formula if I need it or for my whelping pudding.
I actually phoned the vet college at the University of Saskatchewan to see if they had such a thing as a "dog milk bank" for pups that can't nurse or need supplementing. I think they thought I was nuts, but I actually think it would be a good idea, they have milk banks for human babies, why not dogs. It would be a life saver for some of these little ones to have a milk bank and a colostrum bank.
