If your Yorkie is only 4.5lbs it'll have no problem fitting in one of those small plastic kennel like carriers. Check out a walmart or target, they have them for much cheaper than the pet stores and if yo u don't like it u can return it. They have soft carriers that the airlines allow as well. I think your Yorkie will spend the bulk of his time laying down. My dog was on an international flight and he weighed about 7.5lbs. The problem is not sz but weight. On international flights from Asia to the US the dog plus the carrier can not exceed 10lbs to be placed on a play, anything larger has to go in cargo. If you're taking your dog to an island state or country like Japan they require ur dog b quarantined and examined at the airport. So u need to check out the laws governing ur destination.
