I didn't mind them selling the hair to offset costs, but it sounds like they are making more money than most businesses.

How to Sell Your Hair - wikiHow, because you cannot take a tax deduction for selling a part of the body, it's better tax-wise to sell your hair yourself, and then donate the money to charity, and then take a tax deduction. Sounds like a lot of work though. Have you tried selling it on E-bay?
Seriously, I don't mean to be joking, I was just so shocked when someone suggested it wasn't a legitmate charitiy, and I thought I'd be able to find lots of information to prove otherwise, but the reverse it true. I have not done what I'd call a through investigation.
