I would use Dawn dish soap first..give him a good soaping with it..then use his regular shampoo..and I would hold off on a rinse or conditioner until the oily condition clears up. If it continues, the vet can prescribe a shampoo for this...best wishes
I groomed for many years and had to use Dawn to get rid of shampoo build up on dozens coats...will not harm him.
