Cry Bloodwork results not good

Joey had liver shunt surgery a year ago. His shunt was 90% closed and all of his post-surgery BAT results have been great. In October, his post-fast result was a 2, but this month it came back at 44 (I can't recall the pre-fast result at the moment). The vet wants him re-tested in 3 months, but didn't order him back on the enulose. He had been treated as a "normal" pup when his BAT was normal. Not sure what's going to happen, but worried. He couldn't tolerate the RX diet for liver since it caused him pancreatitis. He now eats Natural Balance chicken and sweet potato and loves it. The vet said to wait, but I feel like I should be doing something.
