We were just laughing at Puddles last night about this, but he does it a little differently:

I shred a little of the Natural Balance roll over his food and then add a tablespoon of hot water to make a "stew". When I sit his food bowl down he'll nose around, pick out a piece and suck the broth off, and then gently place it on the floor. He repeats this with one more piece and then he turns his attention to the bowl. After leisurely eating what's in his bowl, he'll ever-so-gently eat those two pieces off the floor. It's always the exact same process, and always EXACTLY two pieces of food in the floor. Just one of his many little quirks that we love
