First of all, Welcome to YT!!! I have 2 babies that are 4.5lbs each (full grown) and they are VERY healthy! My best friend also has a gorgeous yorkie who is 2.5lb and 5 year old! She is one of the tiniest little girls I have ever seen (her picture is under my pooch party album,) her name is Nina and she is also extremely healthy and has never had any problems! I think the advice given here by some of the pros was great and being a newbie myself I would tell anyone looking for a smaller size yorkie to find a reputable breeder (by asking some of the pros on YT for advice on specific ones) and tell them your preferences! I think the concern here is to be on watch for anyone/breeders who intentionally uses the word teacup or teaspoon to sell dogs! Love what mardelin said about teacups having handles and saucers! That was hilarious! In this day and age it is very easy to get taken and get sold a dog by someone who only cares about money! I think what everyone was saying was just that no good breeder will sell you a yorkie with that title attached and just to be careful! The point is to find a healthy puppy no matter the size! And yes there is a standard but as many people shared above they come in all sizes! It seems to me that you are more likely to get a healthier dog if you stick within the size range of what the standard is according to the AKC guidelines! I wish you the best of luck in finding your new baby and am sorry that you had to go through the trauma of losing your beloved pet! Hope to see you around YT!
