  The conclusions that you came to are right.  Puppy shots, one year booster, then you and vet decide schedule after that.  No choice on rabies.
 Some give them yearly.
 Some every three years.
 Some only when low titer occurs.
 And still some stop after one year booster or after a few years of age.
 
 My girl is done with vaccines except for rabies unless I change my mind.
 This is not what I am recommending for someone else.  It is what I think is best for her and her vet has allowed me to do it this way.  Some vets will refuse to hospitalize without certain ones up to date.
