Hi Mary,
I, too, am glad that it's a new day. The it isn't raining at my house, but I do have my cup of strong coffee -- I'll answer your questions based upon my own personal experiences and hopefully others will do the same.... To make things easier to understand I copied and pasted your questions and my replies are bolded in bolded purple.....

1)When will his eyes open?(he is 10 days old) Generally eyes open between 10 abd 14 days -- with Klassie's four little sweeties that were born 3/1/10 the last born pup (largest male) opened his eyes on day 10, two pups opened their eyes on day 12 and the last pup on day 14.

2) When will he begin to try and walk? Of course they start crawling the moment they are free from the sack. Again, using this last litter as an example, they started walking between 3 and 4 weeks. They have been crawing all over the place and slowly but surely the little ones "get up on their legs". They are 4 weeks old today and are beginning to run - it is so very cute because they are still wobbly.

3) Any suggestions on when he should be dewormed? Be forewarned -- This question will bring a lot of differing opinions, and may get "very passionate". I have a very close relationship with my vet, Dr. Amy. She is incredible. Because it is my personal comfort zone - I don't worm pups prior to 8 or 9 weeks. My moms and dads don't have worms and my pups have never tested positive. The wormer is generally Panacur - we have never had a problem with this product - but remember wormers are poison - poison for worms and pups can have reactions.

4) He is gaining a good amount of weight every day! Was 6 oz at birth and now weighs about 13 oz. Sounds like he is gaining and growing well.

5) Can he hear me when I talk to him and kiss him? Does he recognize my smell yet? Without a doubt he recognizes your smell -- and I do believe that my pups recognize my voice -- I talk to them (through mom's tummy) from the day of the first breeding, just like I talked to my skin kids inutero, so I can't help but believe that they "know me". LOL - it may just be mommy pride kicking in, but hey, who cares
6) Relax and love the pups. Start reading through the threads and glean as much info as you can.

7) When will he be weaned? I always allow my moms to determine when the pups should be weaned - however - I wouldn't hesitate to do a forced weaning if pups or mom were in any type of crisis. It is much gentler on the pups and moms, no stress involved. No pup ever leaves before they are at least 12-14 weeks so it works out well. Between 4 and 6 weeks my moms generally start spending more time away from the little ones. As soon as the eyes open I start offering "puppy mush" a mixture of ground up puppy food and canned goat's milk diluted with equal parts water. Mom usually eats most of it - this is a learning process for the pups.

Dr. Amy does not condone giving calcuim supplemetns such as Oral Cal Plus unless bloodwork has been done and it is absolutely necessary. I do give lots of calcium righ foods -- I feed moms from the last couple of weeks through weaning a Pregnant Mommy Custard. The recipe was a whelping pudding that was gleaned from Mardelin and modified. Giving calcuim interfers with the body's natural ability to pull calcium from the bones.

Mom should have food and fresh water available to her at all times. Be sure that you are feeding a super premium food -- I would not feed Cesar's it is not the best of foods. I make a "chicken goo" to enhance the flavor of the kibble. Recipe for chicken goo - boil chicken breast in a small amount of water -- cool, then blend the chicken with the broth to make a "goo".

Talk to your vet about bathing her - that's what I would do.
