I think, if no LP, then supplements would be good for an older dog. But if young and healthy with no LP issues, I don't see the reason for the extra cost. Most high end foods like 4stars and up usually have some kind of glucosamine and/or fish oils, etc. But of course, always talk to your vet for the final decision.
