We have and we continue to practice with Starr to not pick up dropped items, this is one of our biggest concerns that she will pick up the wrong thing. I can drop a treat in front of her and she will not pick it until my wife or I tell her it is OK to have it.
We practice by dropping a treat in front of her, telling her to leave it, leave it lay for a little while and then pick it up, let her see that the treat she is being rewarded with is not the same treat as the one on the floor. | This is very good advice, and I'm going to take heed of it, w/my two...I'm not much of one to train pups, but this incident has opened my eyes...I'm also going to copy/paste it for Debbie, because I just know, in my heart, Bella is going to pull through...I believe in the power of prayer, and so does Debbie and her mom...I don't know what people do, that don't have faith? |
